L'Hotel Bristol occupies a Belle Époque building a stone's throw from Cornavin station, stone façade and bow-windows on the Mont-Blanc. We slept in a room renovated in 2019, solid oak parquet, white marble in the bathroom, Duxiana bedding, effective double glazing despite the busy street. The basement spa surprises with its size, 15-metre pool under a glass roof, spacious treatment cabins, hammam in Moroccan zellige. The restaurant serves decent contemporary Swiss cuisine without being memorable, we prefer heading out to the Pâquis district five minutes away. From 552 € a night, a fair rate for a Genevan palace with these facilities. The clientele mixes UN diplomats, Zurich families and business couples, subdued atmosphere without ostentation. The Bristol occupies a building constructed in 1865, neoclassical limestone façade with bow-windows and wrought-iron balconies. Interiors renovated in stages between 2015 and 2020, mix of restored original woodwork and bespoke contemporary furniture. Hall in Carrara white marble, central double-revolution staircase listed as a historic monument. Rooms between 28 and 65 m², 3.20 m ceiling height on the noble floors.
