Palace corridor lit by golden light

The founding text

Our manifesto

We don't rank hotels by algorithm. We pick them one by one, because we've slept there, because we love them, because they stirred something in us.

The editorial commitment

There are websites that list ten thousand hotels. There are apps that promise the lowest rate. There are platforms that turn sleep into an advertising signal. We do none of these. Hotelizia is an editorial guide, in the old sense of the word: we write, we recommend, we own it. Every address published here has been chosen — not suggested by an engine, not negotiated with a sales rep, not pushed by a budget line. Chosen, in the first sense of the word, by a hand and by taste. Here's what we stand for.

01

A hotel is not a list of stars.

A palace isn't five stars on the façade. It's a front desk that calls you by name on day two. It's a bar where the bartender remembers your last drink. It's a mattress that makes your own feel like a compromise. We stopped confusing labels and feelings. The official rating matters to us less than what actually happens, in the hallway, at midnight, when no one is watching. We select on real guest scores (never below 8.5/10, except in rare, justified cases), on location, on reputation, on the building, on the gesture.

02

Every page is written by hand.

No template. No automated generator spitting out content from an AI fed fifteen keywords. Every hotel has its angle: one precise thing that sets it apart, a sentence we felt was right. We read the reviews, we study the photos, we call sometimes. When we don't know, we say so. The voice is first-person plural, because we write for you, not for Google. We take the text seriously, but never the reader for granted.

03

We are independent.

No hotel pays us to appear here. No chain negotiates its ranking. When we link to Booking.com for a reservation, we may earn an affiliate commission — it's clearly disclosed, and it never affects the selection. A mediocre hotel with a large cheque stays out. A remarkable hotel that earns us nothing stays in. Editorial always comes before commercial. That's the only rule that matters, and the hardest one to hold.

04

We write to last.

A useful travel guide should survive the seasons. We refuse trends, barely-open openings, fads that will vanish before spring. An address published here is an address we believe can hold for three years, five years, ten years. That's why we come back, we update, we sometimes remove. A hotel that slips, we take down. A hotel that grows, we re-evaluate. The guide is alive — it breathes at the pace of craft, not of the feed.

A hotel we love is a hotel we write. The rest is a catalog.
