L'Hôtel Les Armures occupies a 17th-century building in Geneva’s Vieille Ville, rue du Puits-Saint-Pierre. We bed down in rooms with exposed beams, stone walls, period furniture blended with contemporary comforts (new bedding, marble bathrooms). The restaurant serves classic Genevan cuisine under medieval vaults, mixing local and diplomatic clientele. The basement spa plays the intimate card, hammam and treatment cabins in the ancient vaulted cellars. The bill climbs quickly, from 814 € a night, but the location remains unbeatable for those wanting to live historic Geneva. The service is well-oiled, discreet, never obsequious. An address that embraces its age and standing without overdoing it ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend Les Armures to travellers seeking patrimonial Geneva rather than banking Geneva. It’s an address for couples on cultural weekends, history buffs who accept the constraints of old buildings (no lift everywhere, rooms of uneven sizes). Families find their place here, but the atmosphere remains hushed, conducive to romantic stays or discreet business stopovers.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The building dates from 1683, when it served as a post relay on the Lyon road. Limestone facade, paved inner courtyard, solid wood staircases. Interiors blend original beams, exposed stone walls and contemporary touches (indirect lighting, refurbished bathrooms). Rooms vary in size and layout, some mansarded, others with views over Vieille Ville rooftops.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The restaurant Les Armures serves classic Genevan cuisine under 17th-century vaults: longeole, perch fillets, fondues. The Swiss wine list is solid, well-drilled service that knows its regulars. Breakfast is taken in the same vaulted room, continental buffet with local charcuterie and pastries. Room service covers the essentials, short menu but well executed.
