Unique location on the quai des Bergues, facing the jet d'eau and Lake Geneva, a stone's throw from the old town.

The Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva occupies a 1834 building on the right bank of the Rhône, and we quickly understand why Genevan high society has had its habits here for two centuries. The rooms blend period mouldings and contemporary comfort, some with direct views of the jet d'eau, others over the old town. The 1 400 m² spa with indoor pool and La Prairie treatments justifies the detour on its own. Service remains discreet, efficient, never obsequious, in the Swiss tradition. We tested the restaurant Il Lago, Italian cuisine of good level without being transcendent. From 1 759 € per night, rate coherent for a Genevan palace of this calibre. The address remains a safe bet for those seeking classic luxury without bluster ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend the Bergues to travellers who prioritise location and service over avant-garde decoration. It's a hotel for fortysomething couples and above, lake weekends, international business dinners, discreet wealthy clientele. Families find their place thanks to the adapted facilities, but the atmosphere remains intimate, very adult.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The building dates from 1834 and has kept its neoclassical façade on the quai des Bergues. Interiors redone by Pierre-Yves Rochon in the 2000s, blend of original mouldings and contemporary furniture. Generous ceiling heights, marble in the public areas, light wood panelling in the rooms. The scale remains human for a palace, 171 rooms spread over six floors.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The restaurant Il Lago offers an Italian menu signed Massimo Sola, classic cuisine well executed without being memorable. The bar Le Bar des Bergues serves cocktails and tapas in an intimate setting, business clientele during the week. Copious buffet breakfast with lake view, 24/7 room service. The summer terrace on the quai remains the main asset, book for dinner facing the lit-up jet d'eau.
