Il Sereno Lago di Como occupies a tranquil shore in Torno, twenty minutes from Bellagio, in a contemporary building designed by Patricia Urquiola in 2016. The 30 suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, teak terraces, bathrooms in Ceppo di Gré stone, direct views over the lake and mountains. We tested the Junior Suite, 45 m², custom Urquiola furniture, king bed facing the water, walk-in shower with Diptyque products. The 600 m² spa offers hammam, sauna, Valmont treatment cabins, heated indoor pool open onto the garden. From 2 800 € per night, it is one of the most expensive addresses on the lake, justified by the signature design and impeccable service. The clientele remains discreet, international, often American and British. We recommend it for a design stay by the water, away from the bustle of Bellagio ✨

The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 2016, designed by Patricia Urquiola for her first complete hotel project. Contemporary architecture in concrete, local stone and glass, horizontal lines that follow the lake shore. Interiors signed Urquiola: custom furniture, Rubelli fabrics, Flos lighting, palette of greys, blues and greens inspired by the landscape. The 30 suites are spread over three levels, all with private terrace and frontal view of the water.

Restaurants, bar, service
The restaurant Berton Al Lago is led by Milanese starred chef Andrea Berton, contemporary Italian cuisine with produce from the lake and the Alps. Breakfast served in the dining room or on the terrace, buffet and à la carte, freshly pressed juices, house pastries. The bar offers signature cocktails and a list of Italian wines, open until midnight. Room service available 24/7, full menu midday and evening.

Where the hotel sits in Lake Como
Il Sereno stands in Torno, a village of 1 200 inhabitants on the eastern shore of Lake Como, 6 km from Como town. Bellagio is twenty minutes by private boat, Varenna fifteen minutes. Milan-Malpensa airport is one hour by road, private transfer arranged by the hotel. The village remains quiet, a few local trattorias, an eleventh-century Romanesque church, no luxury boutiques. Guests come here for the lake and the design, not for animation.
