L'Hotel Villa Franca sits at the top of Viale Pasitea, halfway up the slope between the port and the hills. We reach the rooms by glass lift, the view widens with each floor. The upper suites have private terraces tiled in majolica, light travertine floors, white rattan furniture. The Li Galli restaurant serves Campanian cuisine on the panoramic terrace, from 8pm the sunset sets fire to the ochre facades of the village. 1 328 € a night in high season, reckon on 30 % less in April or October. We recommend the Villa Franca to couples in their thirties and up who want Positano without the centre's bustle, with the comfort of a true 5★ (lift, parking, pool). It's an address for honeymoons, wedding anniversaries, romantic retreats of three to five nights. Families with teens find their place here, but the atmosphere remains resolutely adult and intimate.

Architecture and interiors
1920s villa enlarged and renovated in 2018, white Mediterranean architecture with tiered terraces. Contemporary minimalist interiors: Carrara marble floors, cream-lacquered woodwork, linen and cotton fabrics. Ceiling heights of 2.80 m, sliding glass doors in all rooms. The hotel has 38 rooms spread over six levels, panoramic glass lift serving all floors.

Restaurants, bar, service
The Li Galli restaurant occupies the top-floor terrace, Campanian cuisine led by chef Gennaro Russo. Short menu renewed weekly: sea urchin linguine, salt-crusted sea bream, confit Sorrento lemons. Buffet breakfast served until 11am with house pastries and seasonal fruit. The pool bar offers salads, carpaccios and cocktails from noon to 7pm, light but attentive service.

The hotel stands 300 metres above the port, on the main road crossing Positano east to west. Village centre ten minutes' walk via stairs (250 steps), free shuttle every 30 minutes otherwise. Spiaggia Grande 600 metres away, reachable by shuttle or 15-minute walk. Amalfi 20 km (30 minutes by car), Sorrento 18 km, Naples Capodichino 65 km (1h15). The neighbourhood is residential and quiet, a few private villas and small hotels, few shops.
