Poseidon has held the top spot in Positano since 1950, with an infinity pool suspended over the Mediterranean and service that has never bowed to fashion.

“Infinity pool facing the sea, open April to October, with teak sun loungers and cocktail service until 8pm.”
L'Hotel Poseidon sits on a promontory on the Via Pasitea, halfway up the cliff, and the view takes in the entire bay as far as Capri. We slept in a room with private terrace, Vietri majolica tiling, white wrought-iron king bed, Carrara marble bathroom. The infinity pool is the real draw: heated water, spaced sun loungers, volcanic stone bar. The spa offers massages and treatments based on coast lemons, sea-view cabins. The restaurant serves honest Campanian cooking, grilled catch of the day, fresh pasta, wine list focused on Irpinia and Cilento. From 1 752 € a night, that's the Positano high-season price, but Poseidon justifies it with consistency and location. We recommend for a minimum three-night stay, time to enjoy the pool and head down to the beach via the private stairs ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Poseidon to fortysomething couples and older seeking Positano without the influencer circus, and happy to pay for the view and calm. It's an address for late honeymoons, wedding anniversaries, romantic retreats with terrace dinners and pool days. Families accepted, but the hotel remains calibrated for adults: no kids' club, no animation, just discreet service and the Mediterranean.
The building
Architecture and interiors
Poseidon is a 1950s building, expanded in the 1980s, with typical coast architecture: whitewashed facade, barrel vaults, tiered terraces. Classic Mediterranean interiors: majolica tiling, wrought iron, painted wood, linen fabrics. Rooms measure between 28 and 45 m², all with private terrace or balcony. Progressive bathroom renovations since 2019, white marble and Grohe fittings.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The main restaurant serves buffet breakfast (7am-11am) and à la carte dinner (7.30pm-10.30pm), with panoramic terrace on three levels. Classic Campanian cooking: spaghetti alle vongole, scialatielli ai frutti di mare, house limoncello. Chef Antonio Russo works with Positano fishermen and Tramonti producers. Pool bar open April to October, signature cocktails with limoncello and prosecco. Room service available 24/7, reduced menu after 11pm.
