“Terrace on the marina, direct view of the yachts, a two-minute walk from the Piazzetta.”
The Cervo Hotel occupies a frontal position on the marina of Porto Cervo, with a stone terrace overlooking the pontoons and sailboats. We tested a harbour-side room: terracotta floor, white woodwork, rattan furniture, Mediterranean light all day long. The architecture remains faithful to the Sardinian style of the 1960s, low volumes, arcades, no frills. The pool sits below, surrounded by oleanders and olive trees, water at 26°C in season. The service is well-oiled, discreet, never obsequious. From 1 047 € the night, it is one of the historic addresses of the Costa Smeralda, with the clientele to match ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Cervo to travellers who already know the Costa Smeralda and seek the historic address rather than the recent palace. It is a hotel for couples in their forties and older, affluent Italian families, yachting regulars who prefer Sardinian charm to contemporary design. Children are welcome, the pool and nearby beach make it a comfortable family base.
The building
Architecture and interiors
Cervo was built in 1963 by architect Luigi Vietti, one of the fathers of the Costa Smeralda style. Low volumes in local stone, tiled roofs, arcades, woodwork painted white, terracotta floors. The whole has been renovated without betraying the original spirit: rattan furniture, light fabrics, no marble or gilt. Rooms vary in size, some with private terrace overlooking the marina, others garden side.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The main restaurant sits on the terrace facing the marina, Mediterranean cuisine with local fish and fresh pasta. The Clipper bar, set under the arcades, serves classic cocktails and draws a loyal crowd in the evening. Breakfast buffet with pastries, Sardinian charcuterie, fresh fruit, served until 11am. Room service available, simplified but efficient menu.
