A design resort on the Sardinian north-east coast, conceived for travellers seeking contemporary architecture rather than Mediterranean folklore.

“Brutalist architecture softened by organic curves, facing the Mediterranean, in a protected area far from classic beach resorts.”
Aethos Sardinia occupies a rocky headland in Budoni, north-east coast, 40 minutes from Olbia airport. The architecture plays on raw concrete and rounded volumes, far from the usual Sardinian rustic codes. The rooms display Nordic minimalism: white linen, light wood, terrazzo bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto the sea or the maquis. The spa offers hammam, sauna, treatment cabins, heated indoor pool. The outdoor infinity pool overlooks the Mediterranean, teak loungers, cocktail bar until 22h. We tested in June, the service remains a little hesitant (recent opening), but the address seduces with its assumed aesthetic stance, from 1 477 € per night. To book for the architecture and tranquillity, not for the animation ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Aethos to couples in their thirties and forties who prioritise design over the picturesque, and seek a calm address without children everywhere. It is a hotel for digital detoxes, wellness retreats, discreet honeymoons. Lovers of typical villages and Sardinian folklore will pass it by.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building opened in 2023, designed by a Milanese architecture studio specialising in contemporary hospitality. Volumes in raw concrete softened by organic curves, vegetated roof terraces, large picture windows. Minimalist interiors: terrazzo flooring, light wood, natural linen, bespoke furniture. Rooms range from 35 to 80 m², all with private terrace or balcony.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The main restaurant serves contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, Sardinian products (pecorino, octopus, bottarga), short menu that changes according to the market. Continental buffet breakfast with pastries, local charcuterie, fresh fruit, pressed juices. The pool bar offers signature cocktails and light plates until 22h. Room service available 24/7, reduced menu after midnight.
