“LEED Platinum certification, recycled materials everywhere (reclaimed wood, organic linen, Danish stone), without ever sacrificing five-star comfort.”
1 Hotel Copenhagen occupies a neoclassical 1898 building a stone's throw from Rundetårn, entirely reconverted to the American brand's sustainable standards. We sleep in rooms where driftwood meets Scandinavian linen, Bornholm stone bathrooms, plastic-free minibars. The original architecture (4.20 m ceilings, mouldings, herringbone parquet) dialogues with contemporary design signed INC Architecture & Design, understated but never austere. The fitness centre is open 24h/24, restaurant Berta focuses on Nordic short supply chains, the lobby functions as a club for Copenhagen's creative clientele. From 509 € a night, rate justified by the project's coherence and central location. We recommend it to travellers who want luxury without carbon guilt ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the 1 Hotel Copenhagen to conscious travellers who refuse to choose between luxury and environmental impact. It's an address for thirty-to-forty-somethings on business trips, design-sensitive couples, visiting Nordic creatives. Families find their place here (connecting rooms, child-friendly policy), but the clientele remains mostly adult, urban, informed.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 1898, a former neoclassical bank reconverted in 2023. Limestone façade, tall windows, generous volumes (4.20 m ceilings in the suites). Interior by INC Architecture & Design: driftwood, Danish stone, natural linen, sand-grey-green palette. No Italian marble or gilding, everything from Scandinavia or certified sources. The 189 rooms range from 28 to 85 m², all different in layout but united by the same material grammar.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
Restaurant Berta occupies the ground floor, seasonal Nordic cuisine by chef Lasse Andersen, trained at Noma and Geranium. Short menu (six starters, six mains), producers within 100 km, Baltic fish, house-fermented vegetables. Berta bar extends until midnight, cocktails with aquavit and local plants. Organic buffet breakfast (sourdough bread, Danish charcuterie, farm yogurts), served until 11am at weekends. 24h/24 room service, reduced but curated menu.
