Brach Madrid occupies a neoclassical 1920 building in the heart of Gran Vía, reinvented by Starck with his usual vocabulary: smoked mirrors, forest-green velvet, brushed brass, vintage scoured furniture. The rooms play on contrasts, solid oak parquet against padded headboards, white terrazzo bathrooms. The top-floor pool draws in as many guests as Madrid's golden youth, Silencio vibe open to the sky. The Akasha spa offers hammam and treatment cabins in a dimmed glow. The Dani García restaurant (two stars to its name) serves technical Andalusian cuisine, precise plating, impeccable produce. We paid 701 € the night in a Superior room, rate in line with this level of finish and address. The service stays attentive without being stuffy, unmistakable Evok Collection tone ✨

The clientele blends Parisian creatives, Madrid couples and businessmen fleeing the too institutional Ritz and Palace.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The building dates from 1920, typical Gran Vía neoclassical façade with bow-windows and original ironwork. Starck kept the ceiling heights (3.20 m), mouldings and parquets, then injected his universe: XXL mirrors, brass light fittings, Gubi armchairs and Pierre Paulin sofas. The 59 rooms range from 28 to 65 m², all different, some with slender balconies over Gran Vía. The central marble staircase with golden handrail structures the six floors.

The Dani García restaurant occupies the ground floor, two seatings per evening, short menu renewed every quarter: Huelva prawns, Calasparra rice, Ibérico pork. The Brach bar serves signature cocktails and upscale tapas until 1am, intimate vibe, DJ on Fridays. Breakfast in the dining room or rooftop depending on the weather, continental buffet and hot menu, fresh-squeezed juices. Room service 24/7, reduced menu after midnight.

Brach Madrid stands at 20 Gran Vía, Madrid's central artery between Callao and Plaza de España. Puerta del Sol five minutes on foot, Royal Palace ten, Retiro twenty. Callao metro station (lines 3 and 5) 200 metres away, Barajas airport 35 minutes by taxi. The district pulses day and night, theatres, boutiques, terraces, dense traffic until 11pm. Cosmopolitan vibe, tourist without being solely tourist, Madrileños who head out at night.
