1920 Edwardian villa renovated into a boutique hotel, white columned façade, tropical garden at the entrance. Contemporary interiors with oak parquet, white walls, custom light-wood and linen furniture. Intimate scale, around fifteen rooms spread over three levels, three-metre ceilings in the suites. The spa occupies the garden level, the pool the top floor with a teak terrace.

On-site restaurant for breakfast (continental buffet and hot dishes à la carte) and dinner by reservation, contemporary South African cuisine with local produce. Room service available until 22h, reduced but well-executed menu. No formal bar, but a lounge with honesty bar and selection of Cape wines. We advise dining out on Kloof Street or in Camps Bay, ten minutes by car.

The Glen stands in Sea Point, a residential seafront neighbourhood between Cape Town centre and Camps Bay. The pedestrian promenade runs along the ocean for three kilometres, natural pools and jogging spots popular with locals. V&A Waterfront fifteen minutes by car, Table Mountain twenty. Lively neighbourhood with cafés, fine grocers and restaurants on Regent Road, quiet after 21h. No metro in Cape Town, but Uber works well and the hotel offers a free airport shuttle.
