Direct access to Tulum beach from a raw concrete pool that stretches towards the Caribbean Sea.

Xela Tulum sits at kilometre 8.7 on the Tulum-Boca Paila road, where the jungle meets the white sand. We slept in suites with polished concrete walls, recycled teak wood, ecru linen canvases, light filtered through latticed screens. The pool stretches towards the beach without an edge, turquoise water as far as the eye can see. The spa offers Mayan massages and local aloe vera treatments, cabins open to the canopy. The restaurant serves grilled fish and ceviche at the palapa bar, feet in the sand. Attentive service without being intrusive, international thirty-something clientele, barefoot chic vibe. From 430 € a night, we recommend for a design retreat facing the sea ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend Xela Tulum to thirty-something and forty-something couples seeking design without the bling, beach without all-inclusive resorts. It's an address for discreet honeymoons, wellness retreats, off-grid weekends with sunrise yoga. Families with young children will find the vibe too zen, the clientele remains mostly adult and cosmopolitan.

The building

Architecture and interiors

Xela Tulum unfolds low pavilions in raw concrete and driftwood, minimalist architecture inspired by Japanese Wabi-Sabi. Interiors by a Mexican collective: polished cement floors, recycled teak furniture, Chiapas artisanal textiles, lava stone bathrooms. Tropical vegetation grows right up to the terraces, palms and frangipanis frame each suite. The scale remains intimate, around thirty rooms maximum scattered in the jungle.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The main restaurant occupies a large beachfront palapa, raw wood tables, feet in the sand. Short menu focused on grilled fish, ceviches, lobster tacos, Yucatecan cuisine revisited with local produce. Mezcal and rum cocktail bar, service until 10pm. Continental breakfast served in room or on the communal terrace, fresh juices and tropical fruits. Room service available all day, simplified menu.

  • Raw concrete infinity pool, unobstructed Caribbean Sea view
  • Spa with traditional Mayan treatments, cabins open to the jungle
