Hotel Palazzina Grassi occupies a Renaissance palace on the campo San Samuele, three minutes from the pont de l'Accademia. Philippe Starck redesigned the interior in 2009: black lacquered walls, XXL mirrors, bespoke furniture that dialogues with the original coffered ceilings and terrazzo. Each room displays a contemporary artwork (private collection of the owner Francesca Bortolotto Possati), we sleep under a Damien Hirst or an Anish Kapoor. The Ristorante Palazzina Grassi holds a Michelin star since 2016, Venetian cuisine reinterpreted by chef Filippo Saporito. The scale remains intimate: just 22 rooms, discreet service, regular clientele who return for the balance between heritage and modernity. From 937 € per night, rate justified by the rarity of the address and the quality of execution. We recommend without reservation ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend Palazzina Grassi to fans of contemporary design who want Venice without the neo-baroque gilding. It's an address for fortysomething couples and up, art collectors, architects on weekend breaks, gourmet dinners after the Biennale. Families are accepted but the atmosphere remains hushed, conceived for couples' stays.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The palace dates from the XVIe century, sober Renaissance façade on the campo San Samuele. Philippe Starck preserved the coffered ceilings, Venetian terrazzo, original proportions, then injected his vocabulary: black lacquer, oversized mirrors, sculpted light fittings. The scale is intimate, 22 rooms spread over four floors, period staircase. Each space mixes historic stucco and bespoke furniture, contemporary art collection hung on the walls like in a private apartment.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The Ristorante Palazzina Grassi earned a Michelin star in 2016, held ever since. Chef Filippo Saporito works Venetian produce (lagoon fish, Sant'Erasmo vegetables) with modern technique, tasting menu or short carte. Breakfast served in the ground-floor salon, continental buffet and à la carte orders. Room service available 24/7, simplified but careful carte. No dedicated bar, cocktails served in the salon or in room.
