The Venetian address that justifies the Giudecca detour all by itself, far from the San Marco crowds.
Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice
From
3,470 €
“Private boat-taxi shuttle 24/7 from St Mark's Square, heated pool facing the basin.”
L'Hotel Cipriani has occupied the eastern tip of the Giudecca since 1958, and we quickly grasp why Clooney, the Windsors and the European jet-set return every summer. The private boat crossing (three minutes from San Marco) cuts clean from the tourist frenzy. Rooms overlook the three-hectare garden or the basin, cream tones and blonde wood, Carrara marble bathrooms. The Olympic heated seawater pool remains unique in Venice, open from April to October. Service is of absolute discretion, without obsequiousness. From 3 470 € the night, a rate that climbs fast in high season, but the 9.9/10 from 139 reviews speaks volumes ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Cipriani to travellers seeking Venice without the queues, ready to pay the price of relative seclusion. It's an address for honeymoons of well-off thirty-somethings, fifty-something couples accustomed to grand hotels, a few American families in July-August. Socialites cross paths with the beautiful people by the pool, the discreet enjoy the garden and suites with private terraces.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The Cipriani is an ensemble of ochre and white buildings constructed in 1958 by Giuseppe Cipriani, founder of Harry's Bar. Classic Venetian architecture revisited, no baroque flourishes. Interiors signed by successive Italian decorators, neutral tones, bespoke furniture, contemporary artworks in the public areas. Rooms range from 35 to 280 m² for the Palladio Suite, all with balcony or terrace.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
Three tables at the Cipriani: the Oro restaurant has held a Michelin star since 2019 under Davide Bisetto, technical Venetian cuisine. The Cip's Club by the basin serves grills and fresh pasta from April to October, yacht-club relaxed vibe. The Gabbiano offers a classic Italian menu in the dining room or on the garden-facing terrace. Breakfast served until noon, room service 24/7.
