Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend the Rajmahal to travellers seeking an authentic Indian palace without tourist folklore. It is an address for couples on honeymoon, lovers of Mughal architecture, solo travellers who want to understand Rajput history. Families find their place here, the gardens and pool offer space for children.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The palace dates from 1729, built for maharaja Sawai Man Singh II in classic Rajput style. Facades in Jaipur pink sandstone, inner courtyards with colonnades, restored wall frescoes in the state salons. RAAS renovated the whole while preserving original elements: mouldings, jalis (carved screens), white marble floors. The rooms occupy the former royal suites, some with vaulted alcoves and balconies over the gardens.
