“Heated outdoor pool open April to October, surrounded by parasol pines planted in 1924.”
Le Pigonnet occupies a Provençal bastide from 1924 on avenue du Pigonnet, five minutes by car from cours Mirabeau. We sleep in 52 rooms spread between the main building and two pavilions, some with terrace overlooking the two-hectare garden. The interiors blend old tomettes, Souleiado fabrics and second-hand furniture, the whole is comfortable without being ostentatious. The heated pool (open April-October) remains the focal point in summer, sun loungers under the pines, bar service until 19h. The Cinq Mondes spa offers treatments and massages in three cabins. From 299 € per night, breakfast 28 €, we recommend for a Provençal weekend without leaving Aix ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Le Pigonnet to couples in their forties and older looking for a Provençal address without folklore, and to Aixoise families who entertain (connecting rooms available). It is a hotel for gastronomic weekends, discreet birthdays, stopovers on the holiday route. Regulars return for the garden and the pool, not for decorative innovation.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The bastide dates from 1924, built for a Marseillais industrialist and Cézanne enthusiast (who painted the Sainte-Victoire from these hills). Ocre facade with green shutters, round-tile roofs, two pavilions added in the 1980s. Classic Provençal interiors: tomettes, exposed beams, printed fabrics, wrought-iron furniture. Rooms between 22 and 45 m², some with period fireplace.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The gastronomic restaurant serves a Provençal menu under chef Mathias Dandine, trained at Anne-Sophie Pic. Plane-tree shaded terrace open midday and evening April to September, indoor room with fireplace in winter. Buffet breakfast served on the terrace or in room, produce from the Aix market. Cocktail bar in the library lounge, short list focused on Provençal spirits.
