“All rooms offer a plunging view over the Loop or Lake Michigan from the 16th floor minimum.”
The Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago occupies floors 14 to 27 of a glass tower by Adrian Smith, opened in 2009 on Wabash Avenue. We sleep between 170 and 340 metres in altitude, floor-to-ceiling bay windows, contemporary furniture in dark wood and grey marble, travertine bathrooms with deep bathtub. The 23-metre indoor pool runs along a glass wall facing the skyline, subdued lighting, leather loungers. The spa spans 2,100 m² with 53 cabins, golden mosaic hammam, signature treatment menu. From 404 € per night, we pay for the height and the view, not decorative originality. The service remains professional, discreet, efficient for a business clientele and affluent couples. The location allows us to reach the Magnificent Mile on foot in eight minutes ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend this address to business travellers seeking square service and an unbeatable view to unwind after Loop meetings. Couples in their forties and older find modern comfort without surprises, ideal for a shopping weekend on Michigan Avenue or a gastronomic getaway. Families appreciate the spacious rooms and the pool, yet the atmosphere stays hushed, rather adult.
The building
Architecture and interiors
Trump Tower, designed by Adrian Smith (Burj Khalifa), has stood since 2009 on the north bank of the Chicago River. Glass and stainless steel architecture, three successive setbacks that draw a tapered silhouette, 92 floors including 339 residential condos above the hotel. Contemporary interiors by Lucien Lagrange: grey marble, ebony wood, crystal light fixtures, 3.20-metre ceiling height in the rooms. The whole favours sobriety and natural light, without decorative flourish.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Terrace 16 serves contemporary American cuisine on the 16th floor, menu of steaks, Lake Michigan fish, Sunday brunch facing the river. The adjoining bar offers 120 whisky references and signature bourbon-based cocktails. Continental or American breakfast served in-room or at the restaurant, room service available 24/7. No starred table, yet careful execution for a hurried clientele or those seeking comfort without fuss.
