“Nobu Restaurant on the ground floor, one of Chicago's most sought-after addresses for omakase sushi and miso black cod.”
Nobu Hotel Chicago occupies a converted red brick building in West Loop, the neighbourhood that has become the city's gastronomic heart. The rooms play the zen card: dark wood, sliding shoji, deep lava stone bathtubs, indirect lighting. The indoor pool on the top floor offers a clear view of the Loop's skyscrapers, natural light all day long. The service remains discreet, efficient, without fuss. We sleep well, the soundproofing filters out the noise from Peoria Street. From 410 € per night, it offers good value for a 5★ design hotel in Chicago, especially if we dine downstairs ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Nobu to thirtysomethings and fortysomethings who come for the design and the table, not for old-school palace service. It is a hotel for business travellers who dine late, couples on a gourmet weekend, lovers of converted industrial architecture. Families find their place here (spacious rooms, pool), yet the clientele remains predominantly adult and urban.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The hotel occupies a former 1881 brick warehouse, converted in 2017 by Rockwell Group. Clean interiors: polished concrete, walnut wood, washi paper panels, low ryokan-inspired furniture. Ceiling height of 3.20 m in the rooms, industrial guillotine windows. The whole blends Chicago brutalism and Japanese minimalism, without pastiche.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Nobu Restaurant on the ground floor serves the group's signature menu: yellowtail jalapeño, black cod miso, omakase sushi from 150 $. The sake bar offers 40 references, including several junmai daiginjo unavailable elsewhere in Chicago. Continental breakfast at the Rooftop Lounge, room service until 11 pm. The table remains the hotel's true asset, book before arrival.
