A 5★ resort that places the elephants at the heart of the experience, between ethical sanctuary and tropical luxury.
Wild Cottages Elephant Sanctuary Resort

“Elephant sanctuary integrated into the resort, daily interactions supervised by professional keepers.”
Wild Cottages Elephant Sanctuary Resort occupies several hectares on the north coast of Koh Samui, ten minutes from Bo Phut. The concept rests on cohabitation between a sanctuary for rescued elephants and a resort of 18 teak-wood cottages, thatched roofs, private terraces overlooking the jungle or the enclosures. We tested the morning observation programme: bathing the pachyderms, meal preparation, veterinary explanations, all supervised without forced contact. The spa offers traditional Thai treatments in rooms open to the canopy, infinity pool facing the palms, restaurant serving Thai-Mediterranean fusion cuisine that is correct without being memorable. From 611 € per night, the rate includes unlimited access to the sanctuary and educational activities. We recommend it for the ethical approach, rare in the region, and the assumed nature immersion ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Wild Cottages to families with children over 8 (elephant interactions require calm and patience) and to thirty-something couples attuned to responsible tourism. It is a resort for travellers who prioritise ethical animal experience over palace grandeur, accept the jungle setting (insects, humidity, unpaved paths) and seek nature immersion without sacrificing comfort. Eco-conscious groups of friends and alternative honeymoons find their match here.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The resort comprises 18 individual cottages built in 2021, contemporary Thai architecture with thatched roofs, walls in reclaimed teak, large sliding glass bays. Each cottage measures between 45 and 65 m², king-size bed under mosquito net, semi-open bathroom with rain-effect shower, 20 m² wooden terrace with daybed. The buildings are raised on stilts to limit ground impact and ease elephant passage. The whole extends over 12 hectares of partially landscaped tropical forest, gravel paths, solar night lighting.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The main restaurant, a pavilion open on three sides, serves Thai-Mediterranean fusion cuisine: green curries, seafood pasta, papaya salads, wood-fired pizzas. Continental breakfast from 7h to 11h (fresh fruit, eggs to order, local pastries), lunch and dinner à la carte. The bar offers classic cocktails and pressed juices, wine list limited but correct. Room service available until 22h, reduced menu after 20h.

The resort lies 3 km inland from Bo Phut, on the road to Chaweng. Bo Phut beach is ten minutes by car (free shuttle three times daily), Fisherman's Village and its restaurants fifteen minutes. Samui airport is 25 minutes, Nathon port 35 minutes. The neighbourhood is rural, few shops nearby, absolute calm after 18h.
