Moroccan villa with two pools, between Essaouira médina and Atlantic beaches, from 69 € a night.
Villa des Paons
From
69 €
“Two pools in a private garden, 10 minutes from the fortified médina and surf beaches.”
Villa des Paons Essaouira occupies an address on the national road N8, between the médina and the ocean. We tested the rooms: Moroccan tiles, light woodwork, bedding correct without being remarkable. The two pools (one covered, one outdoor) justify the detour, especially off-season when the Atlantic wind blows. The restaurant serves honest Moroccan cuisine, tagines and grilled fish, without gastronomic pretension. The service remains family-run, attentive, sometimes slow at peak times. From 69 € a night, we recommend for a seaside stay without the palace rate. The Booking rating (9/10 on 25 reviews) reflects the value for money, not the absolute standing ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Villa des Paons to families seeking a pied-à-terre between beach and médina, without the formality of large resorts. Couples will appreciate the calm of the garden and the two pools to alternate swims and excursions to Essaouira. It is an address for independent travellers, who rent a car and explore the Atlantic coast (Sidi Kaouki, Diabat) between two tagines.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The villa adopts classic Moroccan architecture: whitewashed walls, wooden moucharabiehs, tiled patios. The volumes remain modest, residential scale rather than hotel scale. The garden structures the whole, with palm trees, bougainvillea and two pool basins surrounded by loungers. The rooms overlook the garden or the pool, some with private terrace.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The villa restaurant offers a short Moroccan menu: tagines (lamb, chicken, vegetables), Friday couscous, grilled fish according to arrivals from Essaouira port. The continental breakfast includes msemen, Moroccan pancakes, fresh orange juice and local pastries. Room service available for light meals. We appreciated the simplicity of the preparations, without gastronomic ambition but with correct local produce.

Location & access
Where the hotel sits in Essaouira
The villa stands on the N8 road, main axis linking Essaouira to Marrakech, about 4 kilometres south of the médina. The neighbourhood is residential, quiet, without shops within immediate walking distance. The surf beaches (Sidi Kaouki, Moulay Bouzerktoun) are 15-20 minutes by car to the south. Essaouira-Mogador airport is 20 minutes away, Marrakech-Menara airport 2h30. A rental car remains essential to explore the region and reach the city centre.
