“Suites with signed contemporary artworks (Mimmo Paladino, Carla Accardi) hung like in a private collector’s apartment.”
Portrait Milano occupies a 19th-century building on Corso Venezia, a stone’s throw from the Scala and Quadrilatero della Moda. The 73 rooms blend solid oak parquet, velvet-upholstered headboards and Flos lighting, with a collection of contemporary Italian art in the suites. We tested a Deluxe: 38 m², Carrara marble bathroom, impeccable water pressure, Duxiana bedding. The Beefbar Club spa on the top floor offers heated pool, hammam and treatment cabins with views over the Milanese rooftops. From 1 815 € per night, rate in line with the positioning and location. Service remains discreet, efficient, never intrusive. An address for those seeking contemporary luxury without ostentation ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Portrait Milano to travellers who attend Milan fashion weeks and vernissages. It’s a hotel for thirty- and forty-something couples, dinners after Scala, shopping Via Montenapoleone, meetings in the Triangle d’Or. Families find their place here (interconnecting rooms available), but the clientele remains mostly business and cultural.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building occupies a 19th-century palazzo on Corso Venezia, neoclassical façade restored in 2018. Interiors by Michele Bönan: solid oak parquet, fabric-upholstered walls, bespoke furniture blending Italian design and Art Deco references. Ceiling height of 3.20 m in rooms, up to 4 m in corner suites. The seventh-floor rooftop houses spa, pool and terrace with clear views over rooftops and the Duomo in the distance.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Beefbar Milano occupies the ground floor and interior terrace: aged meats (Black Angus, Wagyu, Rubia Gallega), Mediterranean fish, wine list with 400 references. Breakfast served until 11.30am, buffet and à la carte (eggs Benedict, buckwheat pancakes, Italian charcuterie). The Lounge bar offers signature cocktails and champagne by the glass until 1am. 24/7 room service, full Beefbar menu available in-room.
