“900 m² spa with black mosaic pool, open until 22h, one of Milan's most beautiful wellness spaces.”
The Mandarin Oriental, Milan occupies four 18th-century Milanese palaces linked by glass-covered passageways, Via Andegari, between the Scala and Monte Napoleone. We slept in a room in taupe and bronze tones, solid oak parquet, black Marquina marble bathroom, ceiling height of 3.80 m. The 900 m² spa with black mosaic pool and Turkish hammam justifies the detour on its own, open until 22h. The Seta table (two Michelin stars) serves contemporary Lombard cuisine under a glass roof, impeccable presentation. Service is attentive without being oppressive, we sense the Mandarin training. From 1 855 € per night, rate consistent with the standing and location, discreet international clientele ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Mandarin Oriental to travellers seeking contemporary luxury without ostentation, fortysomething couples and older, shopping-opera weekends, wellness stays. The clientele is international, discreet, often on business or cultural stopovers. Families find their place here (connecting rooms, pool), but the atmosphere remains hushed, adult, conducive to rest after fashion shows or vernissages.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The Mandarin Oriental brings together four 18th-century Milanese palaces, ochre façades and stuccos, interior paved courtyards planted with magnolias. 2015 renovation by architect Antonio Citterio: solid oak parquet, black and white marbles, brushed bronze light fixtures, bespoke furniture. Ceiling heights between 3.50 and 4 m, original sash windows preserved. Glass-covered passageways link the buildings, we circulate between gardens and salons without ever stepping outside.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Seta restaurant (two Michelin stars) occupies a ground-floor glass house, contemporary Lombard cuisine by Antonio Guida: saffron risotto, reimagined osso buco, mascarpone desserts. The Mandarin Bar serves signature cocktails and light bites until midnight, green velvet banquettes, courtyard view. Buffet and à la carte breakfast in the winter garden, 24/7 room service. Book Seta three weeks ahead in peak season.
