The Palazzo Venezia occupies an eighteenth-century building on Como's main square, sash windows overlooking the lake and the Alps. We slept in a room with original mouldings, Venetian terrazzo floor, contemporary Cassina furniture, Carrara marble bathroom. The restaurant serves revisited Lombard cuisine, short menu that changes every week, attentive service without stiffness. The Booking score of 9,2/10 reflects impeccable execution, yet from 1 291 € a night, we expect that rigour. Wi-Fi works everywhere, room service runs until midnight, transfers to Malpensa are arranged within 48h. Address for those who want Como without the compromises of tired historic palaces ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend the Palazzo Venezia to couples in their forties and older seeking Como without the palace codes of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo or the Villa d'Este. It is an address for design weekends, boat departures to the villages, dinners on the square without leaving the hotel. Families find their place (family rooms available), yet the clientele remains predominantly adult, travellers accustomed to contemporary boutique hotels.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The Palazzo Venezia occupies a neoclassical eighteenth-century building, three-storey ochre façade overlooking Piazza Cavour. Interiors restored in 2024: original mouldings and stucco preserved, polished Venetian terrazzo floors, contemporary Italian furniture (Cassina, Poltrona Frau). Ceiling height of 3,80 m in the main rooms, bathrooms in white Carrara marble with grey veining. The scale remains intimate, around twenty rooms spread over three levels.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The restaurant at the Palazzo Venezia serves revisited Lombard cuisine, short menu that changes every week according to arrivals from the lake and Valtellina. Continental breakfast served in the dining room or in the room until 11h, local products (Brunate honey, Tremezzina jams). Room service available until midnight, reduced menu after 22h. No dedicated bar, yet cocktail service in the main salon facing the lake.
