Architecture and interiors
The Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni occupies a neoclassical villa from 1873, enlarged in 1905 with an Art Nouveau wing. Belle Époque stucco ochre façade, wrought-iron balconies, salons with stuccoed ceilings and Murano chandeliers. The rooms blend period parquet, Rubelli fabrics, Carrara marble bathrooms (some renovated in 2018). Human scale: 95 rooms spread over four floors, original restored lift.

Two tables at the Serbelloni: the Mistral restaurant for revisited Lombard cuisine (risotto with lake perch, osso buco, wine list of 800 references), the Veranda terrace for light lunches facing the lake. The Serbelloni stands at the tip of Bellagio, village at the confluence of the two arms of Lake Como. Via Roma 1, a two-minute walk from the cobbled lanes, silk boutiques, artisanal gelaterias. Public jetty 50 metres away for ferries to Varenna, Menaggio, Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta). Milan-Malpensa airport 90 minutes by car, Como station 30 km then ferry (the hotel arranges private transfers). The village is touristy by day, calm after 8pm, residential out of season.
