The Grand Hotel Victoria concept & spa occupies a renovated 1890 villa on the west shore of the lake, at Menaggio. We enter via a terraced garden, then a hall in white Carrara marble with an Art Nouveau glass roof. The rooms (32 in total) blend oak parquet, pearl grey velvet upholstered headboards, travertine bathrooms. The spa extends over two levels with hammam, Finnish sauna, Comfort Zone treatment cabins, heated indoor pool and overflow outdoor pool open from April to October. The view from the upper rooms embraces the lake and the Lombard Alps, low light in the late afternoon. From 1 500 € per night, we find ourselves at a human-sized palace, attentive service without being stiff ✨.

We recommend the Victoria to couples in their forties and beyond seeking a discreet palace far from the Bellagio crowds. It is an address for wellness weekends, wedding anniversaries, post-opera retreats at La Scala. Families are accepted (family rooms available), yet the atmosphere remains hushed, clientele predominantly adult.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 1890, a three-storey neoclassical villa with ochre façade and green shutters. Complete renovation in 2023 by the Milanese studio Lissoni Associati: white marble, walnut panelling, brushed brass lighting. The communal spaces retain the original mouldings and Venetian terrazzo floors. Rooms between 28 and 65 m², ceiling height 3.20 m, sash windows overlooking the lake or the garden.

The restaurant Concept offers a contemporary Italian menu with lake produce (perch, trout) and vegetables from Como market gardeners. Breakfast buffet served on the terrace facing the water, with house viennoiseries and Lombard charcuterie. Cocktail bar open until midnight, list of 80 gin references. Room service available 24/7, reduced menu after 22h.

Where the hotel sits in Lake Como
The Victoria stands in Menaggio, west shore of the lake, 35 km north of Como. Village less touristy than Bellagio or Varenna, with a few family trattorias and a market on Friday morning. Ferry to Bellagio in 15 minutes, Varenna station 20 minutes by car. Milan-Malpensa airport 1h15, private shuttle on request. The neighbourhood is residential, quiet after 20h, ideal for walking along the lake.
