The Regent reopens on the Kowloon waterfront after six years of closure, and Hong Kong recovers its historic palace facing the harbour.

“483 m² of panoramic terraces over Victoria Harbour, the largest private outdoor area of any hotel in Hong Kong.”
The Regent Hong Kong has commanded the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront since 1980, closed in 2017, reopened in 2024 after complete renovation. We find the floor-to-ceiling windows that made its reputation, direct views over Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. Rooms start at 50 m², Italian marble, walnut wood, bathrooms with bathtubs facing the harbour. Two pools including one heated outdoor on the sixth floor, fitness centre with panoramic views. Service remains that of an Asian palace, attentive without being intrusive. From 389 € a night, a rate in line with this category in Hong Kong. We recommend a high-floor room to avoid reflections from neighbouring towers ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Regent to travellers seeking a historic palace with unbeatable views, not a contemporary design hotel. It's an address for couples and business travellers who know Hong Kong's hotel history and want to recapture the original Regent spirit. Families will appreciate the two pools and room space, but the clientele remains mostly adult, between business lunches and harbourside dinners.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The Regent occupies a 17-storey building on Salisbury Road since 1980, modernist Hong Kong architecture by Dennis Lau & Ng Chun Man. Complete renovation 2017-2024 by Chi Wing Lo, who preserved the palace's signature: monumental floor-to-ceiling windows and systematic orientation towards Victoria Harbour. Contemporary interiors with Italian marble, walnut wood, brushed brass, beige and taupe palette. 9-metre-high lobby with Lasvit crystal chandelier, Carrara white marble staircase.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
Six restaurants and bars including the Harbourside run by chef Olivier Elzer, one Michelin star. The Qura offers contemporary Cantonese cuisine with dim sum in continuous service. The Riva Bar occupies the sixth-floor terrace, cocktails facing the harbour until midnight. Breakfast at the Harbourside with panoramic views, continental buffet and Asian à la carte. 24/7 room service with full menu.
