The only palace in Leblon that fully assumes its status as a hideaway for wealthy cariocas.
JANEIRO Hotel
From
551.625 €
“Infinity pool facing Leblon beach, open until 9pm with cocktail service.”
JANEIRO Hotel occupies the corner of avenue Delfim Moreira, Leblon seafront, and we quickly understand that this is the most expensive neighbourhood in Rio. The rooms play the card of contemporary Brazilian minimalism: light wood, white linen, floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Atlantic. The infinity pool on the top floor extends the horizon line, caipirinha service until sunset. The spa offers signature treatments based on açaí and cupuaçu, local products without folklore. We tested the restaurant Oteque, one Michelin star, technical Brazilian cuisine without show. From 552 € per night, a fitting rate for Leblon in high season ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend JANEIRO to Brazilian or international forty-somethings who already know Copacabana and Ipanema and seek the residential calm of Leblon. It is a hotel for couples in search of sober design, gastronomic dinners, child-free pool mornings (although technically accepted). Paulista business travellers base themselves here to negotiate away from the bustle of Barra da Tijuca.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 2016, contemporary architecture by Bernardes Arquitetura, twelve-storey glass and raw concrete façade. Tropical minimalist interior: Brazilian travertine marble underfoot, freijó woodwork (local hardwood), Etel Carmona and Sergio Rodrigues furniture. The volumes play on 3.20-metre ceiling heights, natural light filtered through wooden claustra screens. Intimate scale: only 55 rooms, no cathedral lobby.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The restaurant Oteque occupies the ground floor, one Michelin star since 2019, chef Alberto Landgraf trained at Noma. Eight-course tasting menu built around Brazilian produce (Amazonian pirarucu, heart of palm, fermented cassava), cellar of 400 South American references. Breakfast is taken poolside: tropical fruits, house tapioca, warm pão de queijo. Cocktail bar on the rooftop until midnight, menu signed by mixologist Tato Giovannoni.
