The Okura Prestige Bangkok
From
184.268 €
“Japanese spa of 1 200 m² with indoor onsen and treatment terrace on the 25th floor, view of Lumpini Park.”
The Okura Prestige Bangkok occupies floors 24 to 36 of a glass tower on Wireless Road, a stone’s throw from Lumpini Park. We find the pared-back aesthetic of the Tokyo parent house: dark wood, sliding shoji screens, clean lines. Rooms start at 50 m², deep bathtubs facing floor-to-ceiling windows, firm Japanese bedding. The Okura spa spans two levels with infinity pool, volcanic stone onsen, massage cabins open to the sky. The clientele mixes Japanese executives, couples on long layovers, travellers fleeing Sukhumvit’s bustle. From 184 € a night, a rate that positions the Okura below the historic palaces while offering equivalent standing ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Okura to travellers seeking Japanese calm without leaving Bangkok, far from Sukhumvit’s tumult. It’s an address for fortysomething couples and up, executives on long assignments, spa aficionados who want a real onsen in South-East Asia. Families find their place thanks to the spacious suites, but the clientele remains mostly adult and discreet.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The Okura Prestige occupies the upper floors of an office tower built in 2012, contemporary architecture by P49 Deesign. Interiors signed by the Okura Tokyo teams: anthracite grey marble, wengé wood panelling, translucent shoji screens. The lobby on the 24th floor opens onto a double-height space of 12 metres with blown-glass chandelier. Rooms between 50 and 330 m², all with deep Japanese bathtub and panoramic view.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
Three tables at the Okura Prestige: Elements for kaiseki cuisine by chef Yusuke Takada (book the 8-place counter), Up & Above for grills and cocktails on the 37th floor with open terrace, Yamazato for traditional sushi and tempura. The Japanese breakfast at Yamazato remains one of Bangkok’s best: house miso, grilled fish, koshihikari rice. The Up & Above bar closes at midnight, intimate vibe far from Sukhumvit’s noisy rooftops.
