Tembo Kiwengwa Resort

We recommend the Tembo Kiwengwa to couples on honeymoon or on a relaxation stay, to families with children (family rooms, supervised beach, multiple pools), to travellers looking for a complete resort without going out every day. The all-inclusive formula suits those who want to budget in advance and enjoy the spa, pools and beach without counting. Majority European clientele (Italians, French, British), relaxed but refined atmosphere.

The resort consists of low buildings (two to three storeys maximum) spread across a tropical garden of several hectares. Contemporary architecture inspired by Swahili constructions: thatched roofs, white walls, dark wood for balustrades and doors. The common areas open to the outside, semi-covered circulation between the wings. Rooms between 28 and 45 m² depending on categories, all with balcony or terrace.

The main restaurant offers international buffets with Tanzanian corner (ugali, grilled fish, seafood curries). An à la carte restaurant by the beach serves daily fish and grills, reservation recommended for dinner. Main bar open until midnight, pool bar until sunset. Copious buffet breakfast: tropical fruits, pastries, egg station on request. The quality is correct for an all-inclusive, without gastronomic pretension.

Kiwengwa is located on the North-East coast of Zanzibar, 45 km from the international airport and 50 km from Stone Town, the historic capital. The village remains quiet, a few fish restaurants and craft shops along the main road. The beach stretches for several kilometres, spectacular low tide (the ocean retreats 200 metres), ideal for walks but less for swimming at certain times. Paid shuttle to Stone Town organised by the hotel, excursions to Prison Island or Mnemba Atoll bookable at reception.
