Boutique hotel with feet in the sand in Paje, between kitesurfing and Ayurveda, far from the ostentatious luxury of Nungwi.
Samawa Living
From
187.061 €
“Ayurvedic spa with Sri Lankan therapists, facing the Indian Ocean, from 187 € per night.”
Samawa Living occupies a stretch of beach in Paje, east coast of Zanzibar, facing the kitesurfers who slalom between the sandbanks at low tide. We slept in suites in teak wood and white linen, air-conditioned, with private terraces overlooking the ocean. The spa offers authentic Ayurvedic treatments, massages with warm coconut oil, therapists trained in Sri Lanka. The infinity pool runs along the beach, teak sun loungers under the coconut palms, cocktail service until 22h. The restaurant serves grilled fish and Swahili curries, short but well-executed menu, dinner with feet in the sand possible. From 187 € per night, it's a rare value for money for a 5★ with feet in the water in Zanzibar. We recommend it for a wellness retreat or the end of a safari, not for partying ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Samawa Living to couples in their thirties and forties looking for a confidential address, far from the all-inclusive resorts in the north of the island. It's a hotel for the end of a Tanzanian safari, wellness retreats, discreet honeymoons. Kitesurfers appreciate the proximity to the spot, but the atmosphere remains calm, no noisy water sports club.
The building
Architecture and interiors
Samawa Living is a collection of contemporary pavilions in teak wood and palm thatch, built in 2018 on a coconut grove facing the beach. Clean Swahili architecture, high roofs, natural ventilation complemented by air conditioning. Interiors in white linen, driftwood furniture, bathrooms in grey terrazzo. Intimate scale, around fifteen suites scattered through the tropical garden.
At the table
