Hotel St Moritz Queenstown occupies Brunswick Street, a quiet artery 200 metres from the lakefront. The architecture evokes revisited alpine chalets, light wood and large bay windows framing the Remarkables. The rooms play contemporary sobriety, neutral tones, firm bedding, bathrooms in reconstituted stone. We appreciate the fitness centre open 24h, rare in this price range in Queenstown. The restaurant serves a correct New Zealand map, without gastronomic pretension. From 153 € the night, it is a solid value for money for a 5★ MGallery in high season. The service remains professional, never obsequious, in the Accor premium spirit ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend the St Moritz to thirty-something and forty-something couples who come for skiing at Coronet Peak or mountain biking at Seven Mile, without looking for the ostentatious palace. It is an address for active travellers who want a proper bed after a day outside, not a selfie lobby. Families find what they need thanks to the spacious rooms and proximity to lake activities.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The building dates from the 2000s, sober neo-alpine architecture with stained wood facades and local stone. Interiors signed by an Australian studio, clean lines, Scandinavian furniture, a few nods to mountain lodges without falling into chalet kitsch. Standard ceiling heights (2.60 m), but the bay windows compensate with natural light. The whole was refreshed in 2019, it shows in the fabrics and bathroom finishes.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The hotel restaurant offers a short menu, local products (Central Otago lamb, Bluff fish), honest execution without a guide star. Continental and hot buffet breakfast, correct but without the scale of the grand palaces. The bar serves wines from Gibbston Valley and Central Otago, a well-thought-out list to discover the regional pinot noirs. Room service available until 22h, reduced but effective menu after a day of skiing.

Location & access

Where the hotel sits in Queenstown

Brunswick Street connects the city centre to the lake, a quiet neighbourhood by day, lively in the evening with the bars of Cow Lane 5 minutes away. Skyline Gondola 10 minutes by car, Coronet Peak 25 minutes, Remarkables 35 minutes. Queenstown airport is 15 minutes, regular shuttles but we recommend a car to explore Glenorchy or Arrowtown. The lakefront with its restaurants and shops is 300 metres away, everything is walkable within an 800-metre radius.
