Pinot noir vineyard facing the Remarkables, between cellar and Lake Hayes.
Stoneridge Estate

“Working wine estate with on-site tasting, 10 minutes from Queenstown centre.”
Stoneridge Estate occupies a 28-hectare vineyard planted with pinot noir, at Lake Hayes, between the Remarkables and the lake. We sleep in contemporary suites with glazed bays overlooking the vine rows and the alpine range, New Zealand materials (rimu wood, merino wool), gas fireplaces. The outdoor pool overlooks the estate, open from October to April. Rates start at 312 € per night, fair for a 5★ vineyard in New Zealand. The cellar offers private tastings, the estate produces four cuvées. We recommend it for an oenotouristic stay without sacrificing palace comfort, provided you have a car (no public transport). ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Stoneridge to thirty-something couples and above seeking an oenotouristic stay without folklore, between tasting and hiking. It is an address for those who want the calm of the vineyard while remaining within reach of Queenstown (skiing, restaurants, Lake Wakatipu). Lovers of contemporary design and New Zealand pinot noir will find what they are looking for, provided they accept the relative isolation (car essential).
The building
Architecture and interiors
The estate dates from 1996, contemporary buildings in local schist stone and cedar wood, horizontal architecture integrated into the vineyard landscape. Suites spread across several independent pavilions, zinc roofs, large sliding bays. Interiors pared back: rimu parquet, woven merino wool, exposed stone fireplaces. Intimate scale, a maximum of around ten suites, high-end guesthouse atmosphere rather than vertical palace.
