L'Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam occupies the city's best location, facing the Royal Palace on Dam Square. We bed down in a 1866 edifice that weathered two world wars and hosted crowned heads, artists, diplomats. Rooms blend period wood panelling and contemporary touches, some with direct palace views, others over the canals. The Anantara spa brings the group's wellness signature, with Thai treatments and hammam. Dining includes several venues including the Michelin-starred White Room. From 563 € a night, we pay as much for the address as the standing. Service remains impeccable, honed by 150 years of Dutch hotel tradition ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend the Krasnapolsky to travellers who want the ultimate location in Amsterdam, without compromising on comfort. It's a hotel for couples on a cultural weekend, executives on business who want to walk back from the Rijksmuseum, families visiting the city without wasting time on transport. The clientele mixes wealthy Europeans, Asians loyal to the Anantara brand, Americans discovering Amsterdam in palace mode.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The building dates from 1866, built by Polish entrepreneur Adolf Wilhelm Krasnapolsky who gave the hotel his name. Neoclassical façade over five storeys, with the famous glass Wintergarden added in 1879, now a listed historic monument. Renovated interiors that respect the original volumes: high ceilings, oak parquet, mouldings, while integrating contemporary Anantara design. The scale remains that of a grand 19th-century hotel, with 451 rooms spread across several wings.

At the table

Restaurants, bar, service

The White Room has held its Michelin star for years, set in the glass Wintergarden with contemporary French cuisine. The Grand Café Krasnapolsky offers an all-day brasserie menu, terrace on Dam Square in fine weather. The Taiko serves Asian fusion cuisine, adjoining cocktail bar open late. Copious buffet breakfast, 24/7 room service, several lounges for afternoon tea.
