The Okura Tokyo occupies two towers in Toranomon, embassy and skyscraper district, 10 minutes from Roppongi. We stay in the Heritage Wing (classic, dark wood panelling, deep bathtubs) or the Prestige Tower (contemporary, floor-to-ceiling windows, views of the Tokyo Tower). The spa spans several floors with indoor pool, onsen and treatment rooms. The six restaurants include a French table, a teppanyaki and the Yamazato, kaiseki reference since 1973. The service remains that of a Japanese palace, discreet, precise, flawless. From 668 € the night, we pay for the address, the history and the consistency. We return for the Japanese breakfast served in black lacquer bowls, facing the interior garden ✨

Who is it for?

Who we recommend it to

We recommend The Okura to travellers seeking a Japanese palace without the folklore, blending modernity and 1960s heritage. It's a hotel for couples in their forties and older, high-end business trips, discreet family ceremonies. Fans of modernist architecture and precise service find their account here.

The building

Architecture and interiors

The Okura Tokyo occupies two towers in Toranomon, rebuilt in 2019 after three years of closure. The Heritage Wing preserves the 1962 modernist spirit: keyaki wood panelling, Okura-andon lanterns suspended at 8 metres, clean lines. The Prestige Tower adopts a contemporary style with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the Tokyo Tower. Heritage rooms offer deep bathtubs and dark wood panelling, those in Prestige focus on light and space.

We book Yamazato two weeks ahead for an omakase dinner, the service remains impeccable across all tables.
