The Korean palace that makes regulars of Gangnam forget the Shilla.
Josun Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul Gangnam

“Indoor pool on the 23rd floor with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Seoul skyline, open until 10pm.”
Le Josun Palace occupies a glass and steel tower in the Gangnam business district, and we quickly understand that Marriott wanted an Asian flagship for its Luxury collection. The rooms start at 45 m², light oak parquet, grey Emperador marble bathrooms, deep bathtubs facing the windows. The pool on the 23rd floor remains the detail that justifies the booking: 15-metre pool, natural light all day long, unobstructed view over the Teheran-ro towers. The service is well-honed, discreet, never intrusive, with a team that speaks fluent English. The Booking score of 9.7/10 from 355 reviews is no coincidence, we have rarely seen such a recent palace maintain this consistency. From 487 € per night, it is positioned 20% below the neighbouring Park Hyatt for an equivalent standing ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Josun Palace to business travellers who want a functional palace without folklore, and to couples looking for a design weekend in modern Seoul. It is an address for thirty- and forty-somethings who prefer Gangnam to Jongno, shopping at COEX rather than temples in Bukchon. Families find their place here thanks to the spacious rooms and the secure district, but the clientele remains predominantly business during the week, leisure at the weekend.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The Josun Palace occupies a contemporary tower inaugurated in 2020 in the Gangnam district. Vertical architecture in glass and brushed steel, ground-floor lobby with double-height ceilings, walls clad in solid walnut panels. The common areas blend white Carrara marble, patinated brass, contemporary Korean artworks. Rooms spread between the 8th and 22nd floors, pool and spa on the 23rd, restaurant on the 1st.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Josun Palace houses three tables: Elbon The Table for contemporary Korean cuisine (breakfast buffet included in some rates, à la carte in the evening), Maru for Japanese charcoal grills with binchotan, and the Lounge & Bar in the lobby for signature cocktails. Executive chef Kim Dae-cheon, trained at the Shilla, signs a pared-back Korean menu with seasonal produce. 24-hour room service, reduced but refined menu.
