Balinese suite-hotel at bargain prices in Ubud's rice fields, spa included.
Purana Suite Ubud
From
95.463 €
“Private pool in every suite, from 95 € per night, ten minutes from Ubud centre.”
Purana Suite Ubud holds a discreet address on the Mas road, between rice fields and wood sculptors' workshops. The suites (all with private pool) blend solid teak, black lava stone and ikat textiles, light dimmed by carved claustra. The spa offers traditional Balinese massages and Ayurvedic treatments, cabins open to the vegetation. We tested room service: honest Indonesian dishes, generous portions, quick delivery. The airport shuttle (included) takes 1h30 from Ngurah Rai. From 95 € per night, it's one of the best value-for-money we've seen in Ubud for 5★ with private pool. The Wi-Fi is stable, rare in the area ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Purana Suite to honeymoon couples or wellness retreats who want Ubud without paying the price of iconic addresses (Hanging Gardens, Capella). Families appreciate the spacious suites and private pool, reassuring with young children. It's also a solid base for travellers chaining temples, artisans' workshops and hikes in the rice terraces.
The building
Architecture and interiors
Contemporary Balinese architecture, low pavilions in teak and volcanic stone scattered in a 8,000 m² tropical garden. Traditional thatched roofs (alang-alang), exposed lava stone walls, carved claustra filtering the light. The suites (between 45 and 65 m²) all open onto a terrace with private pool, solid wood furniture, semi-open bathrooms with stone bathtub. The whole dates from 2018, impeccable maintenance.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The restaurant serves Indonesian cuisine and a few Western dishes, short but well-executed menu: nasi goreng, bebek betutu (Balinese braised duck), green curries. Breakfast included with tropical fruits, fresh-pressed juices, eggs to order. Room service available 7h-22h, same menu as the restaurant. No formal bar, but cocktails and wines served on the terrace or in suite. For Ubud's big tables (Locavore, Mozaic), allow 15 minutes by car.
