“Rooftop with heated pool and 360° view over the Old Town, open all year round.”
The W Prague occupies a 1929 building on Wenceslas Square, a stone's throw from the National Museum. We enter a hall where the original marble dialogues with light installations signed Olgoj Chorchoj, the avant-garde Czech collective. The rooms blend restored Art Deco woodwork, Cassina furniture and black stone bathrooms, some with bathtubs facing the rooftops. The 400 m² spa includes an indoor pool, sauna and treatment cabins, from 436 € per night. The service remains attentive without being stiff, typical of the brand. The address appeals to those seeking a contemporary palace in a city often frozen in baroque ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the W Prague to travellers aged 30 to 50 who prefer contemporary design to imperial gilding, couples on luxury weekends or professionals on long business trips. The hotel suits discreet celebrations, urban retreats, cultural stays and shopping in the Golden Triangle. Families find their place thanks to the spacious rooms, yet the atmosphere remains resolutely adult, especially at the rooftop after 8pm.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 1929, built for the Czechoslovak Commercial Bank in the Czech functionalist style, a local variant of Art Deco. Light limestone façade, tall windows with geometric frames, original 12-metre-high hall with marble columns. The 2021 renovation by Jestico + Whiles preserved the period woodwork, stucco and ironwork while inserting contemporary furniture signed Cassina, Flos, B&B Italia. The 161 rooms occupy six floors, surfaces from 28 to 85 m², ceiling height of 3.20 m in the former boardrooms.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The restaurant MASO offers a menu of matured meats and grills, open midday and evening, chic brasserie atmosphere with leather banquettes and cement tiles. The Woo Bar on the ground floor serves signature cocktails and light bites until 1am, DJ sets at weekends. The breakfast buffet is held in a vaulted room of the former bank, local and organic products, breads from the Eska bakery. Room service operates 24/7, reduced menu after midnight.
