Palace from 1890 in the heart of Prague, redone in 2020 with a 1 200 m² spa and a collection of Czech contemporary art.

“Underground spa of 1 200 m² with 25-metre pool, Ottoman hammam and treatment cabins in the original vaults.”
The Grand Mark Prague occupies a neoclassical building from 1890 steps from the Powder Tower, renovated in 2020 by the London studio Goddard Littlefair. We slept in a 42 m² room with Hungarian oak parquet, restored mouldings, Carrara marble bathroom and freestanding bathtub facing the roofs of the Old Town. The 1 200 m² underground spa (25-metre pool, hammam, Finnish sauna) alone justifies the detour, we spent three hours there without noticing the time pass. The gastronomic table Mark's serves Czech-Mediterranean cuisine signed by chef Marek Fichtner, trained at Alain Ducasse. The service is polished, discreet, never obsequious. From 326 € per night, it is the best palace/amenities ratio in Prague. ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Grand Mark to travellers seeking a modern palace without giving up historic heritage. It is an address for couples in their thirties and older, cultural weekends, spa getaways, business lunches in the financial district. Families find their place (connecting rooms, attentive service), but the clientele remains mostly adult, between Prague and Vienna.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 1890, typical neoclassical façade of the Nové Město district, fully restored in 2020. Interiors signed Goddard Littlefair: original mouldings preserved, Hungarian oak parquet, brushed brass lighting, midnight blue and pearl grey velvet. Ceiling height of 3.80 metres in the rooms, 4.50 in the lobby. The spa occupies the vaulted 19th-century cellars, exposed stone and indirect lighting.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The restaurant Mark's serves Czech-Mediterranean cuisine signed Marek Fichtner, trained at Alain Ducasse in Paris. Short menu (six starters, eight mains), local products (Bohemian duck, Šumava trout), cellar of 400 references. The buffet breakfast offers Czech charcuterie, Viennese pastries, eggs to order. Cocktail bar open until midnight, menu of 35 signatures.
