The Canadian palace that has transformed its roof into an urban beehive and vegetable garden facing the seaplanes of the port.
Fairmont Waterfront
From
917.951 €
“Third-floor terrace with 500 000 bees and aromatic herb garden that supply the restaurant, direct view over the Coal Harbour seaplanes.”
The Fairmont Waterfront occupies the waterfront of Coal Harbour, a stone's throw from the Canada Place cruise terminal. We sleep in 489 rooms spread over 23 floors, sober contemporary decor (light wood, neutral tones, generous bay windows overlooking the port). The heated outdoor pool remains open all year round, rare at this latitude. The Arc restaurant uses honey and herbs from the rooftop terrace, a nice concept but the menu remains safe. From 918 € a night, high rate for Vancouver but the location makes up for it. Efficient service, mixed clientele (conferences, families, couples), classic Fairmont atmosphere without surprises ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Waterfront to business travellers who chain conferences at the Convention Centre (five minutes on foot) and to families before or after an Alaska cruise. It is a hotel for those who want to sleep in the heart of Vancouver without sacrificing the view or the services of a large group. Couples will appreciate the Harbour View rooms, yet the atmosphere remains functional, not romantic.
The building
Architecture and interiors
23-floor tower built in 1991, postmodern architecture in glass and grey granite typical of the Vancouver waterfront. Sober entrance hall with marble columns, geometric-pattern carpets, abundant natural light. Rooms renovated in 2018, 30 m² on average, Crate & Barrel furniture, white marble bathrooms with separate bath and shower. The whole ages well without being spectacular, standard Fairmont comfort.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Arc restaurant offers a Pacific Northwest menu (wild salmon, Dungeness crab, local vegetables) with herbs and honey from the rooftop terrace, a concept more interesting than the execution. Hearty buffet breakfast at the Waterfront Lounge, view over the port, 38 CAD per person. The Herons Lounge serves cocktails and tapas in the evening, business clientele after 6pm. Room service available 24/7, shortened menu but efficient.
