The Fairmont Pacific Rim holds the Coal Harbour waterfront, between cruise terminal and skyscrapers, with a rooftop pool facing the mountains.
Fairmont Pacific Rim
From
722.617 €
“Year-round heated rooftop pool, direct view of the North Shore Mountains and Vancouver harbour.”
The Fairmont Pacific Rim occupies a tower of glass and black granite at Canada Place, facing the seaplanes and the Alaska cruise ships. We tested a harbour-view room: floor-to-ceiling bay windows, dark walnut furniture, anthracite grey marble in the bathroom, Sealy Posturepedic bedding. The sixth-floor pool remains the real draw, heated to 28°C even in winter, teak loungers, cocktail service until 22h. The spa offers signature treatments with British Columbia green tea, cabins with mountain views. From 723 € per night, a rate justified by the location and facilities, less so by the room size (30 m² in the base category). The service is well-oiled, efficient without being warm, typical of North American Fairmonts. We recommend it for a business stay or an urban weekend with direct access to the Seawall ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Fairmont Pacific Rim to business travellers seeking a proper hotel (not an anonymous Marriott) and to couples in their forties on an Alaska cruise stopover. The rooftop pool draws local guests at weekends, lounge atmosphere rather than hushed palace. Families find their place (connecting rooms, kids menu), yet the hotel remains calibrated for an adult clientele, meetings in the morning, cocktails in the evening.
The building
Architecture and interiors
23-storey tower by James Cheng, Vancouver architect specialising in residential skyscrapers, opened in 2010. Low-E glass façade and black Zimbabwe granite panels, double-height lobby with Indigenous artworks (Haida totems, Salish sculptures). Interiors by DesignAgency of Toronto: dark wood, quilted leather, subdued lighting, revisited English club aesthetic. Rooms from 30 to 280 m², all with bay windows yet soundproofing that could be better on the Canada Place side (boat horns).
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Botanist occupies two levels: ground-floor restaurant (botanical cuisine, vegetables from Fraser Valley farms, Pacific coast fish), gin bar upstairs with 50 references and house cocktails. Breakfast buffet correct without being memorable, 38 CAD, fresh juices and local smoked salmon. The Lobby Lounge serves a Pacific afternoon tea (yuzu scones, Dungeness crab sandwiches) from 14h to 16h, book at weekends. Room service 24h, reduced menu after midnight.
