The Estate Yountville occupies six acres in the heart of Napa Valley, a stone's throw from French Laundry and Bouchon. We tested a garden-side room: light wood, white linen, floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto the oaks, Restoration Hardware furniture without surprises. The spa offers treatments based on grapes (we stay in Napa), the main pool remains open until 22h with heated loungers. From 741 € a night, which places the address in the local high-end without reaching the rates of Auberge du Soleil or Meadowood. The service is attentive, never intrusive, typical of Californian hospitality. We recommend for a comfortable wine-tourism stay, not for a striking architectural experience. Who we recommend it to
We recommend The Estate to couples in their thirties and forties who come for the cellars (Opus One, Domaine Chandon, Stag's Leap less than 20 minutes away) and want a comfortable base without rigid protocol. It is an address to decompress between two tastings, not to impress. Families with teenagers are welcome, but the atmosphere remains predominantly adult and wellness-oriented.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The resort opened in 2018 in a contemporary neo-Californian style: low volumes in wood and stone, flat roofs, large sliding bays. The architecture adopts the codes of local wine ranches without pastiche, with natural materials (bleached oak, limestone, linen) and a light palette. The 22 rooms and suites are spread across several single-storey pavilions around the gardens. The whole covers 600 m² of built surface, an intimate scale for an American 5-star.

Restaurants, bar, service
The main restaurant, The Estate Restaurant, offers a seasonal Californian menu with produce from the Napa farmers' market (open Wednesday and Friday). Breakfast served until 11h with detox options and sourdough pancakes, dinner until 21h30. The wine bar offers a selection of 80 local references, tasting by the glass possible. Room service available 7h-22h, reduced but well-executed menu according to our tests.

The Estate stands on Washington Street, the main artery of Yountville, a village of 3,000 inhabitants in the centre of Napa Valley. French Laundry, Bouchon Bakery and Ad Hoc (Thomas Keller) are less than ten minutes' walk away. San Francisco airport is 90 minutes by car, Oakland 75 minutes. The neighbourhood is residential and quiet after 20h, with a concentration of starred tables within a 500-metre radius. Private parking free of charge, essential as no public transport serves the valley efficiently.
