The American palace of Potsdamer Platz, between Berlin rigour and transatlantic service.
The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin
From
411.725 €
“Indoor pool on the 5th floor with floor-to-ceiling windows onto the Berlin skyline, open until 10pm.”
The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin occupies a glass tower on Potsdamer Platz, and we recognise the group's American DNA from the lobby: light marble, vertiginous ceiling height, three-piece-suited service. The rooms play the card of contemporary classicism, beige and grey tones, king-size bedding, Carrara marble bathrooms. The view looks onto the square or the Tiergarten depending on the floor, the high rooms (8th and above) are worth the surcharge. The spa and the pool on the 5th alone justify the detour, natural light and Technogym kit. From 411,73 € a night, it's the reference palace for international clientele seeking American standards right in Berlin. We tested room service at 11pm, impeccable. ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Ritz-Carlton to business travellers who want a reliable palace, without surprises, with international standards. It's the address for senior executives on assignment, fortysomething couples discovering Berlin in luxury weekend mode, American families accustomed to the brand. Fans of radical Berlin design will prefer other addresses, here we come for the service and central location.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The Ritz-Carlton occupies a 2004 glass-and-steel tower, contemporary architecture by Hilmer & Sattler, on the former Potsdamer Platz wasteland rebuilt after reunification. Classic American interiors: marble, light wood panelling, crystal chandeliers, thick carpets. The lobby spans two levels with a monumental white marble staircase. Rooms between 40 and 280 m², sober décor, neutral tones, bespoke furniture.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Fragrances restaurant offers an Asian-Mediterranean fusion menu, open lunch and dinner, business crowd at lunch, couples in the evening. The Tea Lounge serves the breakfast buffet (32 €, comprehensive, local produce) and afternoon tea. The Curtain Club on the ground floor is a cocktail and cigar bar, intimate vibe, leather club armchairs. No signature chef, but meticulous execution and attentive service.
