“Set in the former Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (1763), with KPM collection pieces displayed in the communal spaces.”
KPM Hotel & Residences Berlin occupies the buildings of the royal porcelain manufactory, founded by Frederick II in 1763. We bed down in rooms where contemporary design dialogues with Prussian industrial history, exposed bricks and ceiling heights of four metres. The 71 rooms and suites mix polished concrete, whitewashed oak, Danish furniture, a few KPM pieces in display cases. The fitness centre remains modest for a 5★, but the location in Charlottenburg compensates, ten minutes on foot from the palace and the Tiergarten. From 247 € per night, we recommend it for the heritage address more than for the wellness facilities. The 9,3/10 score on 2 032 reviews reflects above all the quality of service and the originality of the place ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the KPM to travellers seeking reinterpreted industrial heritage, not the classic Berlin palace. It's an address for architects, designers, thirty-to-forty-something couples who prefer historical authenticity to XXL spas. Family rooms accommodate children, but the spirit remains adult, more cultural weekend than beach stay.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building houses the former Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, royal manufactory created in 1763 to rival Meissen. 19th-century industrial architecture preserved: red bricks, metal structures, large glass roofs. The renovation into a design hotel kept the raw volumes, added polished concrete, light oak, Scandinavian furniture. The 71 units include residences with equipped kitchens, some over two levels.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The hotel restaurant offers contemporary Berlin cuisine, regional produce, breakfast service until 11am at weekends. No signature chef or star, but an honest menu that bets on Brandenburg vegetables and Baltic fish. The bar serves classic cocktails in a brick-and-leather setting. For fine dining, we head out: Rutz (2★ Michelin) fifteen minutes by taxi, Tim Raue (2★) twenty.
