We tested a room on the fifth floor: dark wood, grey marble, large windows framing the tiled roofs of the old quarter. We recommend the GM Premium to travellers discovering Hanoi and wanting Western comfort without isolating themselves from the historic centre. It is an address for thirty-something couples, first visits to Southeast Asia, stays of three to five nights before heading to Hạ Long Bay. Families appreciate the family rooms and the pool, but the scale remains intimate (no kids club or entertainment).

Contemporary seven-storey building, vertical architecture typical of old Hanoi where plots are narrow. Minimalist design interiors: grey marble, dark lacquered wood, indirect LED lighting. Rooms measure between 22 and 35 m², panoramic windows with double glazing (the district is noisy from 6am). Glass lift serving the rooftop, fitted terrace with loungers and bar.

Ground-floor restaurant serving breakfast buffet (phở, bánh mì, tropical fruits, Western options) and Vietnamese menu in the evening. No signature chef, honest cuisine without gastronomic pretension. Room service operates until 23h, reduced menu. We prefer to go out: the district is full of local tables, Chả Cá Lã Vọng three minutes on foot, Bún Chả Hàng Mành five minutes away.

Hoàn Kiếm lake 400 metres (five minutes on foot), Temple of Literature 2 km, French opera 800 metres. No metro nearby, but everything is done on foot or by taxi (Grab works perfectly). The district vibrates from dawn: motorbikes, street vendors, workshops opening at 6h. Nội Bài airport 45 minutes by shuttle, Hanoi station 2 km.
