“Score 9.5/10 across more than a thousand reviews, rate from 75 € a night right in the historic quarter.”
L'Anatole Hotel Hanoi occupies three adjoining houses on Nha Chung, a cobbled lane in Hoan Kiem district, a short walk from the restored Sword Lake. We slept in a room with white walls, light parquet, sober contemporary furniture, grey marble bathroom. The rooftop pool offers a clear view over the red-tiled roofs and surrounding pagodas, open until 8pm. The restaurant serves an honest Franco-Vietnamese menu, breakfast buffet included in the rate. The service is attentive without being stiff, the team speaks English and French. From 75 € a night, it is one of the best value-for-money stays we have tested in an Asian 5★ ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend Anatole to travellers seeking a true 5★ without paying international-chain prices. It suits couples on a city break, families with children (connecting rooms, pool), young forty-somethings wanting comfort without palace formality. Regulars of the Park Hyatt or Sofitel Legend Metropole will find a more intimate, less ceremonial alternative.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The hotel brings together three renovated French colonial houses from 2018, ochre façades and green shutters typical of old Hanoi. Clean contemporary interiors, white and grey marble, lacquered woodwork, 3.20 m ceiling heights. The central stairwell retains the original cement tiles, blue-and-white geometric patterns. Rooms between 28 and 45 m², all with balcony or terrace.
At the table
Restaurants, bar, service
The Anatole restaurant offers a short Franco-Vietnamese menu, pho at breakfast, French dishes in the evening (beef pavé, sole meunière). The morning buffet mixes imported pastries and local specialities, served until 10:30am. Ground-floor bar with classic cocktails and local beers. Room service available 24/7, simplified menu after 10pm.
