Marriott's Mai Khao Resort occupies a seafront in northern Phuket, away from saturated areas. We sleep in Thai villas with pointed roofs, dark wood and private terraces, some with pool. Two main pools wind between the palms, one reserved for adults. The resort focuses on space: tropical gardens, immense beach, few vis-à-vis. Marriott service polished, without surprise or particular brilliance. From 262,96 € the night, a good value for this category in Phuket. We come here to decompress with family or as a couple, not for nightlife.

Architecture and interiors
Contemporary Thai architecture: sloping roofs covered in brown tiles, stained-wood facades, open galleries. The villas are spread over a landscaped estate of several hectares, surrounded by coconut palms and tropical trees. Sober interiors: dark parquet, rattan furniture, light-stone bathrooms. Human scale, no tower, maximum two storeys.

Mai Khao lies at the far north of Phuket, 10 minutes from the international airport. The beach runs alongside Sirinat national park, a protected zone where turtles come to nest between November and February. No shops within walking distance, a car or resort shuttles are needed to reach local restaurants (5 km). Patong and its animations are 40 minutes away, Phuket Town 30. The neighbourhood is residential and hotel-based, very quiet after sunset.
