The One Barcelona GL occupies a modernist building from 1880 on Carrer de Provença, halfway between Casa Batlló and the Sagrada Família. We slept in a 38 m² room with oak parquet, buttoned leather headboard, Macael white marble bathroom. The rooftop pool offers a frontal view of Gaudí’s spires, rare at this distance. The 600 m² spa features hammam, Finnish sauna, massage cabins with Catalan oils. The restaurant serves contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, short menu, produce from the Boqueria market. From 495 € per night, a coherent rate for this level of service right in the Eixample. Attentive service without being stuffy, mixed international clientele (couples, business, families) ✨

The rooftop pool and spa justify the address for urban relaxation getaways, away from the Ramblas crowds. Architecture and interiors

The hotel occupies a 1880 modernist building, Montjuïc stone facade with typical Eixample wrought-iron balconies. Interior redesigned in 2013 by Barcelona studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán: blend of original woodwork, contemporary Cassina and B&B Italia furniture, brushed brass lighting. 6-metre high-ceiling lobby with black marble staircase and restored period glass canopy. The 89 rooms retain original mouldings and parquet, reinterpreted in a pared-back neo-classical style.

The Somni restaurant offers a contemporary Mediterranean menu signed by chef Marc Gascons (ex-Els Tinars, 1★ Michelin in Girona). Produce from the Boqueria market, precise cooking, careful presentation without showiness. Copious Catalan buffet breakfast (pa amb tomàquet, Ibérican charcuterie, fresh juices), served under the glass canopy or on the rooftop terrace in summer. Cocktail bar open until midnight, short menu of revisited classics. 24/7 room service, simplified but well-executed menu.

The One stands on Carrer de Provença, residential artery of the Eixample dreta, between Passeig de Gràcia (8 min on foot) and the Sagrada Família (12 min). Upscale neighbourhood, quiet after 8pm, with local shops and restaurants. Verdaguer metro station (L4/L5) 400 metres away, El Prat airport 25 minutes by taxi. Casa Batlló and Casa Milà 10 minutes' walk, Born and Gòtic 15 minutes by metro. The district avoids the Ramblas tourist saturation while remaining central.
