Primero Primera

We recommend Primero Primera to couples seeking Barcelona without the Las Ramblas crowds, and to travellers who prefer sleeping in a neighbourhood where Catalans live. It's an address for romantic weekends, late returns from dinners in Gràcia, pool mornings before heading to the centre. Families find their place here (family rooms available), but the atmosphere remains hushed, adult, not suited to noisy groups.

The villa dates from the early 20th century, sober Catalan modernist style, light stone facade, wrought-iron balconies. Interior renovated in the 2010s, contemporary design respecting the original volumes: high ceilings, solid parquet, marble staircase. Rooms mix bespoke furniture and vintage pieces, neutral tones, linen and blond wood. The scale remains intimate, around thirty rooms spread over four floors.

The Primero Primera restaurant serves a short Mediterranean menu, Catalan produce, simple cooking (grilled fish, seasonal vegetables, rice). Correct buffet breakfast, fresh bread, Iberian charcuterie, fresh-squeezed juices. The rooftop bar offers cocktails and tapas in the evening, relaxed vibe, service until 11pm. Nothing gastronomic, but sufficient not to seek a table elsewhere if returning late.

Sarrià lies north-west of Barcelona, chic residential neighbourhood, quiet streets, local shops, markets. It's a twenty-minute walk to Gràcia, thirty minutes to Passeig de Gràcia by metro (L6 line, Sarrià station 400 metres away). The airport is 25 minutes by taxi, Sants station fifteen. The neighbourhood is lively by day, very quiet at night, ideal for sleeping away from tourist noise while staying connected to the centre.
