“Rooftop pool with 360° views over the old town and Sagrada Família, open until 10pm in summer.”
L'Ohla Barcelona occupies a 1920s building on Via Laietana, façade dotted with eye sculptures by Frederic Amat. We step into a lobby of black marble and brushed steel, dim lighting, four-metre ceilings. The rooms blend dark wood, leather and Macael stone bathrooms, some with freestanding tubs facing Gòtic rooftops. The rooftop with pool and bar offers clear views of Montjuïc and the Sagrada, rare at this address. Service remains discreet, efficient, never obsequious. From 459 € a night, coherent pricing for this level of finish and location. We recommend for a design weekend between Eixample and Born ✨
Who is it for?
Who we recommend it to
We recommend the Ohla to travellers seeking bold design without veering into empty concept hotel territory. It's an address for thirty- and forty-something couples, shopping-culture weekends, dinners in the Born, early departures to the Costa Brava. Businessmen appreciate the proximity to the financial district and the relative calm of Via Laietana.
The building
Architecture and interiors
The building dates from 1920, neoclassical façade reinterpreted in 2011 by architects Julià Biosca and Frederic Amat. The 74 rooms spread over six floors, generous volumes (25 to 45 m²), smoked oak parquet, leather-upholstered headboards. Bathrooms in grey Macael stone, Grohe fittings, some with freestanding tubs. The rooftop adds a glass-and-steel technical floor, 12-metre black resin pool.
